    Whats up all?

I have been doing some thinking lately. Maybe I want to get a new car .

Not that there is anything wrong with the S14, but i have been considering getting one of these.

The performance figures are about the same as the S14's, but its a classier vehicle.

What are everybody 's thoughts on this? I figure it would be about the same hassle to maintain this thing as it already is w/owning an S14 w/SR20DET.

I could sell the S14 for the same price as these things go for . . . . .

Hrm . . i bet most replacement parts are dealership ownly. I barely ever drive my S14 as it is - so its not like the car would be put thru hell in terms of milage/wear/tear.

Battlepope had a porsche I believe, before the Q ship.

I looked into 944's and they'll be a money pit.

Fuck the 944. The only Porsche worth giving up the S is the 930, or maybe a well done 911. Even a 928 isn't worth it.

    Thats going to run $$$$.

The girl's dad has a '82 911 SC and its in prestine condition - I have no idea what its worth, but I think its still a $20,000 + car.

He also has a '83 930 turbo in the same condition which is worth far more than the 911 from what I've been told - the 930 is his baby.

I know when I looked into porsches the only porsche I could really get into was a 100,000mile 944 from the early to mid 80's.

What kind of problems usually come about on these . . . im guessing the money pit price thing is becaue you need to use porsche parts to fix the thing.

As b said - i dont need the car, im getting it for fun ;) - it wont be driven that often.

owning a 1986 porche is basically telling everyone who sees you.

wait until you can afford a nice one. i think it's cheesy to buy an older car that isn't as nice just to have the name.

Yeah, a mint 930 can be a $40k car. The 82 SC though, maybe a $16k car. Maybe.

I found a 1987 Slant 930 up here for $28k, which I felt was nice .. but prolly something stupendous wrong with it. I have a 930 motor (Or, at least, a line on one) but it's number plate has been scratched off from the 80s. I want to use it too.

Like I said, I'm not sure of the exact worth - the 911 SC looked great to me. Prime time, mint, with polished rims and the works. It was sitting on the dyno in his shop when I borrow some tools from her dad.

The 930 turbo was at the house under the car cover and I could only see the mint black paint and polished deep dish rims on it, plus it was alarmed so I didn't want to go fucking with it.

The automatic Carrera 2s was for her and is a piece of garbage compared to the others - I would view that as like the 944.

Really the sr20 s14 should outperform the porsche and have a cheaper repair bill. Fix up the suspension if you haven't, add to the interior to plush it out a bit and be happy with a car thats just as cushy as the porsche because it gained some in the years of technological advancement made by all other companies in the 90's to help catch up to what technology went into an early 80's porsche.

p.s. regardless of the porsche's he loses credit because his daily driver is a H2 or land rover, but gains credit for helping me out with my car.

this would be a huge mistake
bryan in denver i believe is the one that got the 944
    i had an 83 944, wrecked it
i love the lines of the car, trans is in the rear so weight distribution is nice, not 50/50 like the 924 but they still handle great
mine was N/A and not exactly a rocket
the 944Turbo on the other hand is a completely diffrent breed
they can get up and go when you beat em
    turbo started in 86
anything less than a turbo 944 will leave you wanted more power

expensive as all holy hell to fix
hardly anyone knows a damn thing about them so going to a "cheap" repair shop will end up costing you in the long run
check out what wires alone will run you on this thing
they have lots of sensors etc that was before its time and they love to get money thrown at em
    definately reconsider this

944 is the poor mans porsche
