i put a jdm single in a 92 hatch.. when you start it up you have to rev it a few times so that it doesnt die then it idles at 1500rpms. there is a loud hissing coming from the intake.. does anyone have any thoughts on this? thanks

Probably the FITV on the bottom of the throttle body. Try pulling the intake off and putting your finger over the hole in the throttle body, it will probably idle down like normal. Inside the FITV there is a piston thing that just needs to be threaded back down into its bore, or you can just make a blockoff plate for it and throw it away.

actually the fit valve was my first guess and though it still continues to suck in air after the car has warmed.. the idle doesnt change when i cover it with my finger

check the pcv valve, that freaken 3 dollar piece of plastic cost me 3 weeks of head aches. so yeah u might wanna check that out or just replace it for kicks, because after all it is only 3 bucks.
