Just because the gears top higher than other cars, doesn't mean that it is faster. I believe that the WRX STI or Evo VII, don't remember which one, but it needs a 2nd to 3rd shift to get to 60 MPH, yet they do 0-60 in 5.4 or around there. Anyway, just putting some numbers up there, just in case somebody thinks that I am wrong, I read it in a magazine. Don't remember which one, could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Sleepergtx, your SI has a lower 2nd gear top speed, most likely because of gear ratios, may seem funny but it is actually faster. My SI tops second like at 57 MPH, with a 6800 Redline.

tru dat.

It's all about the gear ratios

I personally hate the ratios in my SI. there's lots of 35 mph speed limits (that I do obey) and 2nd gear makes it feel like the engine is working too hard, and 3rd makes it feel limp if i needed to pass.

My Escort was geared perfectly IMO.

1st 3.30
2nd 1.81
3rd 1.30
4th 1.03
5th 0.79

3rd gear at 3000 rpm I'd be doing 40 mph. Unlike my SI where I do about 32 at 3000 rpm in 3rd.

thats because it was about as legit a post as the guy who threw up that shit about using vegetable oil in his civic...right as he was banned. :bs: If this was real and he wanted to know he would list one fact about the car.
