The N1 style is just too loud nowadays and sounds absolutely terrible with silencer on, not to mention is still loud.

So I'm looking for a new one. Just wanted to know what you guys have had. 2.5" inlet. Just looking for something with a more stock-ish sound and appearance. I don't even care if it's silent, just want it to be better than what I have. Stainless would help.

Part of the reason those N1-style mufflers are loud is because they're thin. There isn't much room for resonating material inside the canister. I'd look for something that's oval-shaped, an Apex'i WS2 or an oval-shaped Magnaflow, something like that...

+1 for WS, Ex-Mag, and SP. Those things sound nice! For just muffler, a lot of people like Vibrant and Mugen Twin-Loop. The Vibrants cost like $100 over here(I've seen many vendors jack up the price of these on H-T).

This is what I just picked up btw:

Vibrant FTW, had 2 of their mufflers on my hatch. Even with 3" on an all motor car they sounded great. The first one was a little raspy until I replaced the resonator that had burned up.

I have the flat black one on my hatch now, except 3". I love it. Deep, aggressive tone, and somewhat quiet (nothing's quiet with 3").

I was leaning that way anyway. Sounds like it has some support. And I love the flat black.
