i have a p30 ecu out of a jdm del sol with a b16 laying around and i put it into my sohc d16 del sol and it seemed alot faster and had more torque. my question is will it hurt my engine? the only thing i found wrong with it is that the check engine light came on, but i dont know what the code was. Any help?

Yeah, put the right ECU in, honestly it is making your car run worse. The stock ECU has hours of R&D behind it to be the best for the motor it goes with. If you think it runs better your ass dyno must be off.
