Over the recent weeks I have been giving some considerable thought to buying a pool cue. I enjoy playing at my local watering hole and have gotten fairly decent at shooting straight pool with my buddies and the regular at the bar. I used to work there and it is fun to go back and shoot the shit with everyone over a friendly game of pool. I have been using a couple of my buddies cues and like the way the feel. I have absolutely no clue what to look for when it come to a decent stick and would like a few pointers. I know a few of you shoot on occasion ( B a some others) so I know that I can count on some decent advice.
here are the perticulars:
I have the viking headquarters located here in town.
I have a bachelor's party coming up so it may be a gift.
I would like to keep it close to 250.00 or less for a decent beginner cue
A buddy of mine works for Pool Cues, Pool Cue Cases, Billiards and Gameroom Accessories at PoolDawg so he can get me a good deal on a cue they carry.
What do I look for or even want in terms of features for a 19 - 21 oz cue?
Is a cue one of those things that I have to actually go and shoot with in order to tell which one works for me?
What are the best brands besides Viking to go with?
Thanks in advance for any input.
