Recap Cliffs: 2009 sucked. I'm not going into detail.

:werd: No offense to you, but seems like something that would be hard to miss.

Not necessarily. Some addicts are pretty damned good at hiding it. I've known a few guys who turned out to be hard core alcoholics that I never would have guessed...

Recap '09:
Got a stable well paying job (and health insurance)
Got an awesome girlfriend
Moved into an apartment by myself for the first time
Got a car I've wanted for a while ('91 civic hatch) and paid cash for it
Got diagnosed with cancer
Got cured of the cancer(so far)

Keep my job and stay on track for my next promotion
Go back to school, business or economics degree
Register with the SCCA
Get back in touch with some old friends
Get a better apartment

its not really a degree....its more i got 5 creditials in Nissan because i took the Nissan courses....i went to uti but the one in nc is nti

Go to "real" college as backup. My sister's fiance'(spl?) went to NTI and works with people with high-school diplomas at a Euro-specialty shop. I think he gets paid a little more than them but not really by a large margin. He's BMW-specialty btw.

I'd work on a bachelor's degree in your spare time. Some colleges actually will let you use tech stuff as part of a bachelor's degree, like one half of your major would be automotive tech and the other would be business or communications or whatever. Might be something to look into...

thats what im going to do once i get nti payed off....yes i studied nissan but only cause there was no honda class... but i think im going to get a bs in business so i can start my own shop one day and have a clue about money and stuff such as that

Cancer? At 22? WTF?

B, sorry to hear about your job man.

My 2009 was great by comparison to many others, I consider myself lucky.

- Re/fi'd the house to a rate of 5% from 6.75%. My house actually appreciated during this time and gave me a greater than 20/80 LTV ratio!
- Got promoted to Software Engineering Manager here at VeriSign.
- Got the largest bonus of my life!
- Remodeled my kitchen, all by myself!
- Got the retaining wall and drainage fixed around the house.
- Wife gave birth to our first baby, Bella Mae
- Lost about 20k in the market (on paper), which has been slowly recovering. not too bad

Cancer? At 22? WTF?

I know right, life's a bitch but they said I'm all clear I just have to have annual tests for the next few years to make sure it doesn't come back. I caught it really early which is what they say will help a lot in the long run. I'm a huge advocate now after experiencing it that everyone get checked out regularly because early detection is a HUGE part of surviving that shit.

Yeah, its a shocker when it strikes young. Good friend of mines mom died at 34 (ish). Real shame. Glad you won't suffer the same fate.
