convert to OBD1 and chip it, other than that you're pretty much SOL as far as I know.

why the hell would you swap the tranny? where did you get that idea? the tranny doesn't have a speed limiter. it's controlled by a program in the ecu. civicous didn't post that for his own health. it's how you do it.

Congrats, you just made my top ten 'most retarded things I've ever heard' list...and I've heard a LOT of retarded shit.

For one, there is NO REASON at all why ANYONE should be condoning, much less promoting, speeds of upwards of 120mph. It's illegal and it's unsafe. On top of that, if you ARE the kind of moron to go over 120, of COURSE you're going to want to be able to see your speedo so you can brag to your buddies later about how fast you were going. If you disable your speedo, you won't be able to tell exactly how fast you're going, now are you? Also, if you've got V-TECH y0! and you don't have a chipped ecu, your VTEC isn't going to work without a VSS signal. What's that you say? You DO have a chipped ecu? Well then, just chip out the speed limiter.

I can't believe you actually posted that he should put a goddamn switch to turn off his VSS.

I guess no one in this thread speeds, changes lanes without signaling, NEVER street races, BULLSHIT!!!!! People come here for technical info, not to be preached to. While I agree 120 isnt a safe speed for public roads, there are times when the road is DEAD and it can be done. If he wants to risk hurting himself, so be it. Some people insist on learning the hard way :(

are you suggesting that we condone this by explaining the process? i have no issues with teaching people how it's done as long as i get to preach also.

this goes along with threads on how to shut off an alarm and how to get wheel locks off. probably isn't the best thing to teach people on here. but we can post about it and preach.

ok to explain everything....first off i wanted to know if the 5 speed ecu has a speed limiter...i'm not quite sure...secondly one of my friend's relatives owns a property where an old private air strip was aka deserted, no other cars. so we have races...why do i want to go that fast? because another friend of mine always gives me crap because he has a jetta gli that can go 140 and i know right now my car can't go that fast but eventually it will....so if any of you still don't understand I RACE ON A PRIVATE OWNED ROAD...ONLY THOSE WITH PERMISSION ARE ALLOWED ON IT...IT DOESN'T LEAD ANYWHERE ANYWAYS...120MPH IS NOT FAST ENOUGH TO WIN A RACE AGAINST SOME OF THE CARS THAT COME...I AM NOT ENDANGERING ANYBODY ELSE'S LIFE BUT MY OWN
i also have a question for anyone who criticizes me for driving fast...what is the point of swapping, turbocharging, etc. if you're going to go no faster than 70mph? you might as well buy a geo metro, it can go just as fast...so just because i don't want to drive like an 80 year old grandma like you guys doesn't make me wrong...i believe if you buy or make a car fast it should do what it was made to do at least once

    1)all honda ecu's have a speed limiter
2)the point of swaps, turbos and superchargers is to be able to reach that speed or do it at a safe track. possibly road racing, autox, or drifting.
3)if you race that far, you are going way over 1/4 mile. that's the usual standard of racing and you probably wouldn't reach 140 in a 1/4 mile anyways.
4)just because it's privately owned, doesn't make it safe. if you have a tire blow out and roll 10 times, there still isn't an ambulance there like there is at a track.

basically do whatever the hell you want. chip your ecu, the tranny doesn't matter it doesn't have a limiter. good luck and don't die.

Judging by the aura, living with your parents wasn't too long ago.
