Just match it up with what's already there. Though, from the theory standpoint, TB size should be matched to the cam profile.
You've increased volume but decreased velocity, which means a loss of power in the low-to-midrange while gaining a few ponies at peak horsepower.
That, I do not know. What I do know is that the cam profile should be matched to the flow characteristics of the head and then the TB should be matched to the cam profile. That's why I always tell people to ask their head porter what cam profile would be good for their ported heads.
Exactly. Which is also the basis of the point "you can't expect to hit big numbers by throwing parts at an engine". Engine building is more than just the sum of the parts.
This part of theory requires actual study and years of experience with porting heads and dyno'ing them with different combinations.
Hahaha. Donations are always accepted.
Just to clarify for some. When I say "don't throw parts at an engine", what I mean is that you shouldn't just pick a bunch of brand names without thinking about how they're going to work together. Spend a little time, like Luis is doing, and learn about why you want to use a certain part or not. What is the full effect going to be, beyond manufacturer hype? There's a logical path to all of this and making power consists of the best series of compromises for a particular goal.
^^^ ahaha .. your pretty funny dude
How does one match the TB size to the cam profile, Scott?
well i know this question was for scott but i figured i would help anyways, whether that works or not i dunno lol. if you would truely want to match your cam profile to you throttle body you would have to have your head flow benched which i dunno how much it is but they are hard to find at least in my area. flow benching would tell you how much lift both your exhaust and intake valves would require before the max flow would be reached. then you would by cams with that lift profile. also the flowbench prints out a cfm chart which you could match you tb to. hopefully it helps.. dont ask me where one is lol cuz the only one i know of was at my skool and they wont even let me use it for my head
