I want to get a motor swap in my car before the summer. Does anyone know of a place in texas, preferably in san antonio or laredo, that does good work? Thanks

I know plenty in Austin and Dallas (some Houston), but none in SA or Laredo, that's for sure. If you're willing to come up to Austin, you might look up Tybrid. Effin Motorworks is pretty good too (know them personally, great guys). If you're willing to go to Dallas, call Intercrew. In my opinion, they're the best. They do all my serious engine work. The link is in my sig.

Intercrew: http://www.intercrew-racing.com
Tybrid: http://www.texasimports.net/shopsaustin.html
Effin Motorworks: http://www.effinmotorworks.com

It's been up for a while... the old link was www.intercrewautosalon.com. That one doesn't work. Hopefully I'll get the chance to revamp their current site as soon as I get my new server set up.

Thanks alot bro!!!! I am think about going with effin motorworks because they are a little bit closer. I just need to call and campare prices.

Is it better to buy an engine from the shop doing the swap, or get one shipped to me in the mail from a place like http://www.jhpusa.com? If anyone knows of any other place that sells engines in texas please let me know, thanks.

I don't know about buying engines and then taking them somewhere to get installed. You might save a little money- but honestly, it's almost always better to buy from the shop that's doing the install. That way, if anything is wrong with the engine, it's the shop's responsibility to replace it, not yours. Most shops I've talked to prefer it this way- they can get your car ready faster because they know where all the engine and parts came from, and they don't have to deal with getting replacement parts from someone they don't know.

By the way, if you get a swap with either Effin or Intercrew, tell them that Mike Yu sent you.

:)
