the worse day i've ever had at work

    so three months ago we hired this girl from the sales dept to the customer service. she had started in the company in the middle of 2003, i started in sales in 2004 but quickly transfered to CS because of my fluent bilingual ability and a position was available. she came and went through the next couple of years and while hardly making sales a position became available and we transfered her.

    her first day in her new pos, she gets pulled over and was driving with a suspended lic. so she was late for the next month. then since she cant drive and has to pay for a lawyer and has a son. she needs him to come to the office from 3:30-6 everyday. we agreed that it was for the best to help a fellow employee and a single mother.

    so she's late every day, we've had to deal with her 8yr old until a last friday and she has the worse attitude in the world.

    she feels that since she was employed before me, i cant ask anything of her. and even when its her turn from the que and its been sitting there for a while; if i tell her its her turn she'll make a big deal.

    today i took a call from a client that was not happy with the outcome of the conversation with me.he hung up. at that point the next call is hers.
    she picks up next call
    que lights up
    i take mine.... it was the same guy [caller id] but he hangs up

    we have a rule since before she was there that basically its her turn.

    she curses at me and tels me that i'm not doing my job and its fucked up that its her turn. cuses me out and tells me i'm basically worthless

    i called ceo and he said to wait until the other employee comes back
    back to my desk and took the next call. but it was a job call so i transfered AND took the next call. then i try to tell her that i dont like to have these confrontations, she told me not to talk to her now and to stfu

    i went to hand out some spanish scripts i translated, and i get back to her on the phone telling some one how i cant do my job and thats why we get complaints.

    i tell her that the complaints we get are more from sales tactics..... as i finish she tells me to shut the fuck up and mind my business because she is at her desk[ next to mine no cubicle]

    manager walks in as i tell her to not curse because it was a business. she continues and i tell the mngr to calm this crazy bitch because she is screaming at this point..
    her: ohh! hell nah!!! call me a bitch again pussy your wife is an idiot for being with a man like you

    at that point i pointed out that she has a bastard child, cant keep an apt and cant even pay for a sitter and has us do it. she runs toward me
    me: mngr get this crazy bitch away from me
    he holds her back

    mngr shut up jp
    me: but listen to this bitch talk about my wife and me like she knows something

    she thew a liquid strip at me as she is being held back by the mngr. she got close and hit me in the arm

    she throws a paper towel roll at me at which point the MNGR tells me to go home!!!!

    i said no


    then the ceo of the company comes in as she is in my face telling me that i'm an ass kisser because i hooked up his TL and always did what they asked me to even the time i woke up at 4am to pick them up when they've needed me" like a bitch"


    she saw him went to her desk. i went in his office told him i couldn't deal with her. he told me to go home for the day; i said no that i needed the money. so he told me to sit and take calls.

    she leaves
    ceo leaves
    mngr leaves
    i stay and take calls
    3 calls later
    mngr comes back, calls me in office.

    tells me i had to go home because ceo said i had to since he already told me to.

    she is at her desk and i had to leave

    ceo there= great friend of mine

    then another ceo partner that has referred to me as "brother was not there and hasnt called but saw me leaving.
    and the othe person that works in admin is away because his grandma is ill


    so i'm here at home pissed. not getting payed and they have'nt called all i know is a hae to go back tommorrow and see her stupid face first thing...


    i dont even want to work with her. i cant look at her after what she said about my wife and my integrity
    not that her words matter but she is out of line and should be fired.

    i cant, i refuse to work with some one like that specially after all the dedication and hard work ive invested being in my position...

    should i tell them that i wont work with her?
    should i tell them me or her?
    should i just go in and find my self face to face with this cunt?
    should i even call them after the work day?

    bitch got crazy ghetto on me and i get sent home.

    they sent you home cause she can't drive, and it was the easiest and fastest way to cool the situation down...
    if they tried to send her home she'd prob try to burn the place down

    play it cool, don't issue any ultimatums
    boss's don't like to be told what to do by an employee, good friends or not, it just doesn't happen

    best bet would be to get her to leave
    she quits, they don't get shafted with unemployment
    and don't pull any no show bullshit either
    you get fired for justifiable cause = no unemployment for you

    i'd tell them you want to get paid for the hours they sent you home

    the company gave her money to pay the lawyer.

    so she has a car now...

    i got sent home for no fucking reason. ill be in tomorrow but i wont be happy

    file a written complaint for her hitting you. there's laws against that that the employer has to act on.

    get a witness, get it signed.

    go to ceo.

    say you're going to file this with the state unless they plan to do something about her.


    and like recked suggests, make them pay for your time.

    That's hardcore right there.

    I think it was situation diffusal too. You're a friend of these guys, and a known quantity. They get need to get rid of her on their terms, which means satiating her so she doesn't up and leave / leave them holding their pud.

    It sucks to be the good guy sometimes, but I wouldn't take it personally yet.

    Tomorrow morning, kill her with kindness. Bring in donuts.

    One time, I had words with my boss, so I bought lunch later on. It killed him. He had to play nice after that.

    we dont have that kind of structure. and the only person that saw her hit me was the mngr and i doubt hell sign anything

    if i try to make them ill prob get fired

    man this sucks. everything was so cool before her

    she is not my boss... she was brought in the office and told that another person and me practically run CS, before she was hired

    grab a walkman, or ear phones of somesort that goes in your ears, and keep the volume off, and ignore her, but keep it to the point to where you can do your job like hear the phone, but when your not on the phone, then move your head like your jamming out. While nothing is playing. Keep a tape or digital recorder at the desk that you can record what she says if she's trying to talk to you...but remain ignoring her...she will say something that will get her canned, or she will be completely pissed off at you cuz your not giving her the time of day. Ignoring people at work...will piss them the hell off...I know...hehe. I just snagged that sony mp3 player, and I walk around with the headphones in but music off...and the comments I hear when they think you can't hear them is crazy.

    if that doesn't work, then when she's not there, rub her phone mic on your ass... self gratification at it's best.

    I just want to add my two cents. My girlfriend's dad is the city prosecutor in my town, and we have a lot of talks about legalities of situations (he's cool, even though i'm dating his 17 year old daughter.....). Anyway, if i were you, I probably would have made the comment about her child and her lifestyle too. here's the thing. If she attacked you, and you did nothing back, this sounds bad to say, but that's just money in your pocket after you sue her. she can say all she wants about what you "said." that's not sufficient in court. In a courtroom, you would look a lot better than a woman who can't support herself, let alone her family, and you would be much more reputable. she can't use your words as justification for assault, especially when there's no proof that you even said it. but as long as all you did was defend yourself, she could lose what little she has for assault charges.

    You probably don't wanna get lawyers and a court case involved though, and i don't blame you. but if i were in your situation, i can understand how you'd be very furious right now (just don't be fast......ok, bad joke).

    but yes, suing is VERY dramatic and outrageous, and i don't suggest it. I like the wiping the phone on the ass thing.

    or, bring in doughnuts JUST for yourself.

    it sounds like she's just beginning to figure out that the world does not in fact revolve around her

    if she pulled that shit here we would have fired her. Bad employees are a cancer, if left unchecked they grow until they are uncontrollable.

    My bet- unless she begins to treat the bosses the same way she treat you nothing will change, they will continue to defend her

    if I were him: the manager's opinion is already flawed as clearly demonstrated by his actions

    he was physically attacked at work by an employee who's been shown obvious favoritism. In such conditions you cannot thrive in a career.

    EDIT: Physical assault at the workplace is unacceptable and you losing pay and hours for being attacked is a tort
