    ok so I get a phone call about 45min. ago. . .

its my girl, transmission is done :mfrown: I asked her what happened, really didnt get a good ansure out of her. . . but from the sound of it, its going to need a clutch and possibly some berrings. . .
"what she said after my interorgating her"
She said she got in her car let it warm up like normal. . then she started on her way she said she noticed a slight semi metalic noise when in gear and it was shifting fine, She came to an intersection and plopped it in neutral, after she went to put it back in gear and could not shift out of neutral, finally she got it in gear, she found that could smash it into gear to shift, there is a slight metalic hum while in gear in motion, no abnormal noises out of gear when the car is not in motion, clutch feels normal, bucks alot in first gear. . .

ok guys this is where you all come in. . . what could be the problems and solutions. . .

Dont really need the BS comments right now. . . but she needed to get it home, Im shure you dont live in mass and its about -10 degrees outside right now, not the best weather to be stranded in. . .

joe you're wasting your time. either the tranny is done or the throwout bearing is failing. ive had two mirage trannies with the same symptoms. both high mileage.

ever snap a brand new clutch disk with a 92hp car? i have.

yes my son, he who asks for forgiveness is immediately forgiven.

haha, you're gonna need a new tranny. if it has had issues for a while, i would slap in a stock clutch while it's all apart.

BRRRRR stay warm in the cold man. Working in the cold sucks, I do not envy you. It was -18 (without windchill) below when I went to work yesterday morning.

well I has begun, im going to pull the Si transmission tomorrow. . .Looks like its all F*ucked from the clutch giving out, 3rd gear grinds horribly, 1st barely works. . . I got it on jackstands tonight and will strat in on removing the axles and transmission tomorrow and then plop in the poo poo DX transmission at some point before the end of the week. . . will update constantly so stay tunned - A full write-up will be posted on this after im done the swap

    Required:

(Sorry if I haven't mentioned tool/bolt/socket sizes as I know them exactly!)

    Tools
    - A good set of sockets from 9mm upto 32mm
    - 3/8 or 1/2inch (recomended) drive ratchets
    - Socket extensions to get into those hard to reach places
    - 1/2inch Breaker bar
    - Flat and phillips head scredrivers
    - Torque wrench
    - Jack stands

    Other
    - Pickle Fork, to pop the lower balljoints
    - Manual Tranmission Fluid (MTF)
    - High temp CV joint grease
    - Clutch kit
    - Pipe (you always fine a use for a pipe)
    - Hammer (always need it)
    - Input Shaft Bearing (duh!)
    - Any other bearings that might need to be changed (check them now cause you don't wanna do this again!)

Now that you have it in the air, you can now begin the removal process.
Here is a picture of the wheels off the car while its int he air, note the ammount of room to work under the car, there is close to 2 feet of clearence, that will give you plenty of room for the transmission to com out the bottom of the car.

The next step is removal of the drivers side axle, the passenger side axle and the intermidate shaft. Your going to need a 32mm socket for this step to remove the castle nut, then your goingt o need a pickle fork to pop teh lower balljoint's off the spindle. once you finish all this you can now pop the axle out from behind the hub. now befor you go yanking on the shaft to get it out of the transmission, there is a locking ring if you pull on it your more than likely to pop the joint ont he end (not a project for today) get a large flathead screwdriver or a prybar and put it inbetween the transmission case and the axle end, pry it out of the transmission. I will post pictures as soon as I finish that step.

Popped the axle out of the spindle

Screwdriver behind axle end and next to teh case

    Axle out of transmission
    [IMG]

    Axle out of passenger side
    [IMG]

Next step is to remove the Shifter linkage and the Inspection cover

    Shift linkage
