Turbo vs. Supercharger?

Still gonna boost, turbo, or something to get some more take off, cant handle the pressure!

you wont get a fast take off with the auto.. even with a turbo or a superchager.. your take off will be slower.. once you hit 2500 (with a supercharger) or 3000 or so ( with a turbo) you will take off.. but your starts are going to be like you are barely hitting the gas

you could nuetral drop it :) ;) but then you are going to have to buy a new tranny soon anyway and you are gonna spin tires from not being able to control the torque to the wheels.

you're more than welcome to do what ever you want to your own car. but, why did you even bother wanting advice anyway?

do what you want. thanks for wasting all our time. enjoy your slush box.

Power braking and a higher stall converter would enable a decent launch, and IF the tranny holds up, full throttle shifts OWN.

I'll say you'll lose 1/2 a second off the line, and gain 0.2 on the shifts, which isn't that bad. .3 seconds slower and carrying a cup of coffee to work.

Honestly, autos rule for daily driver/work cars. For autoX or drag, you simply won't get the BEST time that is possible. However, it will be consistent, and not that bad.

Do what you want, then bitch or brag later.

thing is, honda tranny's suck at handling a lot more power than stock

expect to send that slushbox out to level 10 before sending a lot of power through it

here do this...boost your motor in whichever fashion pleases you and when you blow your auto out of tha car, then swap in a tranny like pissedoffsol said. i'll guarantee you'll wish you'd swapped the tranny beforehand, but hey, whatever you want to do is fine.

I am curious why so many of you think that the tranny will blow so easily, and that Honda slush boxes suck?

I don't know what they'll handle, but I can tell you for a fact that four seperate Automatic Accord and Prelude transmissions have had the shite beat out of them by myself and friends. I've also driven about 5 different Civics, with both manual and auto trannies.

My mom had a 1998 Civic EX, and the auto made it slower than shit. At work, for two years, I drove a 1996 manual civic, and it was a quick little fucker if driven right. But I have to tell you, that the impression is quite different in an Accord vs. a Civic. Accords and Preludes have more Torque and HP from the factory than most Civics will ever see. This is to account for the 800 lbs of baggage.

I would ask a transmission specialist for his view, and ask him what usually goes out in overpowered or beat on Hondas. Don't leave it to chance, but why throw out an extra grand needlessly if you don't have insane power goals?

but still, its not an accord or a lude- its a teg ls...

yeah and beating on a transmission with stock power is completely different than beating on it with upgraded power

automatics aren't nearly as simple as 5 speed transmissions and their compexity that is their downfall, especially when you consider the engineers that designed the transmissions for these hondas made every clutch, sun gear, planetary gear, hydraulic pump, torque converter, etc to handle stock HP

not trying to be an asshole, just saying :)

Running 6-7pds on your stock tranny will be fine. If you want more tourqe add a JRSC, for more power and fun add a greddy turbo...

Of course. I respect both of your views. :)

And yes, he was speaking of a teg setup, not prelude or accord.<_<

superchargers take torque to make power, sense most hondas lack this it would make more sense to go with a turbo. Turbos are the freest hp you can get, aside from nnaawwss
