We used to call that "skitching" here.
Grab a skateboard and be towed by a car, or wear blades and hang onto the back of the car. It was a lot of fun.
After I got out of the skating scene, a kid at my former highschool was skateboarding and skitching and fell. He wound up dieing after some severe head trauma.
