So Linh wants to downsize her mp3 player for when she runs so we picked up an Ipod Shuffle. Opened it up, hooked it up to her macbook.............

Ipod shuffle needs a newer version of itunes, ok. update... oh wait, you cant install a newer version of itunes on an older Macbook.

Ok now what?

Found the answer.

A. Buy a new macbook.
B. Install windows on the macbook then install itunes for windows.
C. Use any PC that has Windows 98 or newer and install itunes.
D. Use a 3rd party mp3 software to turn the shuffle into a normal mp3 player that doesnt force you to use itunes.

So why is it I can use a 10+ year old PC and install the newest itunes yet we can't use a 4 year old Macbook with apple's own software?

Thanks Apple.

Articles > Apple Macs as little as three years old are now unable to work with new iPhones or iPods, whereas you could use a 10 year old PC with either...

Sigh....

Acting like your current machine isn't worth anything because you haven't upgraded it to the current OS is a little naive...

As expected I'm being told to spend money on a new OS since ours is outdated.

Wait, Macbooks are meant to last longer right? I mean, they have a better design the software is better, and over all they're much better computers so why the FUCK can I run itunes on my old 1600mhz porn box but not on our macbook? Oh.... because I need a NEW OS.

$30 for snow leopard IF you have leopard... otherwise?

awe cmon its just a macbook right? whats another grand huh? not too much to ask, sheeple :)

I'm not even sure what shes running but regardless, shes happy with the computer as it sits, why install a new OS if its not needed? That's like forcing people to go from XP to 7 just because.

I don't know about you but XP is still a solid OS IMO.

why dont you just bit torrent the OS install disc? its not like you need a key or anything lol.

this.
the only people that are sheeple are people that cant figure out solutions to problems so they throw money at tech companies.

its apples own fault for not having a product key.

who needs to sell/license software when the hardware is basically exclusive and super duper overpriced inflated?

Even if its free, do we really want to install a new OS just so we can get updates to itunes? Isn't that bit much for music indexing software?

having time machine has saved my fuckin life on a few occasions. the new os has a lot of other features but if you are just using this computer for music, then yea its a bit excessive.

Honestly at this point I hate the thing, it has given us more issues then any other computer I've had.
It's a big piece of shit.

I can't get over just how much crap I'm getting about not buying a new OS.

Apple fans are hands down the worst. I can't believe just how far they go to defend Apple.

its not like the new OS will wipe everything out (ideally), just do an upgrade (or whatever Apple calls it, i forget). you shouldnt have to fresh install it and it shouldnt affect anything other than making itunes work.

That means buying the new OS.

No thanks.

I'm also not going to find a copy online.... Not looking for free. I just want Apple to support their own product.

they do. their support is an updated OS.

you either buy it, or BT it for free. either way will produce the same results. youre making this a lot harder than it needs to be for the sake of whining about Apple. lol.

They support it by making me buy something else. And getting a free copy is not something I want to do. Believe it or not I pay for things even Mp3s.

I run music programs that take up massive resources as with Photoshop, I can't get past how I can use those not only on Windows XP 10 year old OS, but most likely Apple's OS even the older ones.

Yet I can't run Itunes.

WTF is wrong with that.

But you're right, we should take our cheap little mp3 player that cost us $47 dollars and just suck it up and make it into a $77 MP3 player and be happy.

Or return the damn thing and by any other 2GB music player that will be half the cost and not have to deal with Itunes.
