It's hard to make a v6 with only one cam. :D

Yeah, most v6's anymore from honda are DOHC. Jeffie's right. The r18 and L15 suck.

ummm pushrods

as i recall "V" configured engines were made that way for a while

Yeah, I thought about going back to edit, but I didn't think anyone would call me out on it.

I should have said as I intended "only one overhead cam"

SOHC V6es are entirely feasible but the extra cost associated with the engineering often didn't warrant it. Most domestic V6es and a lot of import V6es were pushrod till the last 15 years or so. Most applications simply didn't warrant re-engineering what worked already, hence the reason pushrod V8s are still in production and widespread use. Ford's mod-motor (the 4.6 sohc v8) that's been in the Mustang, and a few other things since the late 90s is pretty much the only widespread OHC v8 used domestically. They also have a DOHC version that goes in the Cobras.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. OHV, Its cheap, easy, and still effective. Only thing that sucks is in car cam swaps.
