a hemi Durango will net you 3 mpg. at today's (and tomorrows) gas prices, it's not a wise choice for a single dude.

if you need to haul stuff, get a small trailer. even an accord can tow 1000 lbs.

In other words, you'll be paying a lot more than $3500 a year to drive the thing.

so hey yall im gonna be buying a car soon and im shooting to spend $3500 max, so im wondering about a few cars like these two:
96 Ford Mustang GT
Audi A4 1.8t Quattro 1999

I've never had an Audi or a Mustang but always have liked them and hell i got to drive a 2012 GT500 last week so, I'm really digging Mustangs even more than before... but my question to you guys is, what are known problems with those two cars, and does it seem like a ok deal? I never had one of em so I'm really not sure about how much they usually go for...

im also gonna be looking at some Lincoln LS v6 6 speeds if i can find them... just cause it seems pretty bad ass, and also if I can find an amazingly nice older impreza i might need some info on that as well. Do we even have any Subaru peeps here?

looking for hondas too of course, but I already know a bunch about em... at least enough to not need to ask
Both of those choices are losing choices. The 96 just wasn't a good year, and the 99 Audi can have a LOT wrong that you'll never know until it's too late.

If you get either one on the cheap - Then go for it. My brother in law picked up one for $1600 and it was a beautiful hunk of shit. Then he got another at $1000 and it turned out to be perfect (And he had duplicate spares)

That Mustang, while I have nothing really "bad" to say about them, it was the worst generation.

And LS Lincoln (Now you're talkin) ... Good luck finding one that is what you totally want. If you do come across a manual with a good body, jump on it. I've seen them at $8000-$12000 while shopping for my BMW. And the LS is awesome in every respect. It handles FAR better than you would imagine.

hell yeah.. i read that the 6 speed only came in 2 model years with the 3.0 v6. i was thinking about twin turbo rwd v6 sedan, and great looking...

but the v8 ones only came with a slushbox lol
leave it to ford to douche on a cool car

my city's craigslist has a bunch posted it seems...

Holy Crap ! Yeah, these prices are SO high. Seriously, you could have my BMW for what most of these cost.

The V6 manual has GOT to accept a V8 with some degree of finagling. I mean, come on.

I bet they didn't sell the manual with the V8 just because the engine might rip it apart prematurely or something. The manual config is super comfy in the stick, dash, and seating position - But the navigation option for the car was pretty goddam sweet. I think it's time to customize.

When fullsize trucks came in manual you could only get a 6 or the lower powered v8 for the most part. I got my truck right when Chevy was pulling the plug or the 5spd. I couldn't order one with the 4.8l v8 so I got stuck with the v6. Its funny when other truck guys see that mine is manual they all say I miss have a manual and wish my truck was.
For the most part being able to get the better engine limited you to automatics. Maybe if auto manufactures put manual in all model more people would drive manual and kids would know what a clutch is.

Thats the way third gen f bodies were. You could only get the 5 speed with a 305ci V8 or the V6. 350s all came automatic because the torque of the bigger motors grenaded the T5 too fast.

That's why I love my Frontier- stroked 350z engine and the six-speed transmission, all hooked up to a true 4wd system with lockers all around, 4 full doors, and a 6 foot bed. That VQ40 has quite a bit of grunt too.

Are they still making those?

Kids? Grown ass men that work at my car dealership don't know how to drive stick. Like, most of them.

VG30DE = the maxima someone posted

HOw the fuck do you work at a dealership and not know how to use the man pedal? What if a customer wants to test drive a stick? How do you move cars on the lot? I think driving stick should be part of getting a license.

It goes something like this...

"Hey Steve, can you pull this car around for me?"

Literally one of the salesmen can drive stick. The other Product Specialist can't. Only one of the managers can. So in the entire sales department, there are 3 of us.

Jeff, hunting through year by year, MY2010 was the last to offer the crew cab 4x4 long bed with the 6-speed stick. You'd have to find the "SE Crew Cab 4x4 LWB" which is what I have. From MY2011 and up, it looks like you can have either the long bed with the king cab OR the crew cab with the short bed (5ft) and get the manual transmission. 2010/2011 is also where Nissan changed the trim levels from XE/SE/LE to S/SV/SL.

any father who lets their kid leave the house not knowing how to drive stick failed father hood.

my .02.

Mine didn't teach me, although his entire generation knew how... and Sam DID learn all about all THREE pedals while riding to school in the S2000 this morning. And B, you have to actually HAVE a kid before you can succeed/fail at teaching how to drive stick.

:D

I'm not a father, no.... but mine taught me.

I'm not quite sure this is legit lol but here's a 03 Si nearby... it says the only things wrong is the AC and PS dont work which isnt a big deal to me really. I wish I had my damn money already so I can actually go look at some cars dammit!
