By lavish I mean do you spend excessively?
At times I say my wife and I do, but we are fairly conservative when it comes to our lifestyle...
What about you? Is it worth it?
At times I say my wife and I do, but we are fairly conservative when it comes to our lifestyle...
- We have a home with a comparatively small mortgage to most, 1900 sq ft. cape
- We both drive new(er) cars (Dodge Dakota and Saab 9-3)
- I enjoy electronics: Surround Sound, HDTV's, Gaming, etc.
- We probably spend close to 500-600/mo. on entertainment / random items (eating out, things for the house, going to the bar)
- I save close to 12% of my take home pay into 401(k) and another 5% into savings accounts. She saves about 9% into her 401(k). We have close to 2500/mo after bills left over that normally goes into savings on top of what already goes in there.
- We don't normally drink top shelf liquor but spend plenty on beer (probably 150/mo or so, but we have friends and family over all the time)
- She has a clothing / shoe habit, I have a project (house) habit.
- We shop at Old Navy and Gap and I don't wear a Rolex, but my watch did cost about 700 bucks new...
