I would recommend doing a swap in that case. The car was built almost
2 decades ago, the engine is probably on it's last leg. Often times
when the timing built break engine damage is done. The pistons will
seize up into the valve, which means you will have to rebuild the motor.

My car does have vtec and I was thinking that it would be loud to at the vtec crossover point. What about at low rpms though? Do you think it would still be loud then?

No, I actually have had the swap in for a couple months and then it started. It is like a pop sound and it sounds like it is coming from the middle of the car towards the front. Near the tranny and drive axles.
When I go to take off kind of fast there is a low pitch bump that comes from under the chasis right up front. It only happens when I go to take off fast in 1st or reverse and I kind of dump the clutch a little bit. I was thinking maybe it is a driveshaft problem. Any suggestions?
