i have a 97 ek hatch with a b16a2. obd2-obd1 jumper with an obd1 p72 ecu. vtec comes in at 4800rpm. isnt really making any power in vtec. i beleive vtec on the 99-00 civic si comes in at 5500 rpm. is this why im not making much power in vtec? anyone have any ideas? will i make a...
go with b16. ls tranny gears are too long and you can pickup an ls short block on the street cheap. ls/vtec stock build can be done for under a thousand bucks and you can salvage the head/tranny, oil/water pump gears from the b16. good luck.
you can run b18a/b block with ctr pistons, b16 head and make around 12.5:1 compression (tested in my old setup) and run fine on 93 octane pump gas. no pinging, ran it off of a chipped p28 ecu with fields program. the reason they blow up so much is because of the long rod stroke from the ls...
Im thinking of building my b16a2. I was thinking of doing CTR stock bore pistons, and doing a more powerful cam like the ctr. how much whp can i extract from my b16? i dont wanna do ls/vtec due to the rod stroke. i wanna be able to spin the motor high without breaking. any ideas on other...
the rod bearings are the weak point of ls/vtec. having arp rod bolts dont guarantee anything. spinning the motor that high with high lift cams and 12.5:1 compression (via ctr pistons) + 9k = BOOM after a shot period of time. my setup had arp and took a dump on me in 1st gear at 9k. spun a...
ill check them tomorrow. its 1:30am and i am beat. im gonna hit the pillow. ill do it tomorrow night after work and see what happens. its probably just missing bulbs maybe. you said check fuses....which fuses? i dont think i have the fuse cover =/ lemme know...
i noticed one thing with the cluster. in the back with the harnesses, the ex it came out of had 2 small plugs. in my harness there is only one small plug. would that have something to do with it? probably not. ill go check the dimmer now...
what do you mean in the cluster somewhere? missing bulbs maybe? I just installed the cluster an hour ago and the needles dont light up but on my old cluster without the tacho the needles lit up -=/
if your going all motor i have a setup for you.
my old ls vtec had ctr pistons, itr cams, stainless steel valvetrain by manley and arp bolts/studs throughout. used the stock ls rods shotpeened. on p28 chipped it made A LOT of power. although i shifted at 9k (very bad idea) it still made...
car = 97 civic cx hatch
cluster = 96 civic ex with tachometer
for some reason the needles are not lighting up. everything else is working perfectly except for the needles not lighting up. cant see anything at night. anyone have any idea why?
use stock harness like they said above. since its 95, its still obd1 so you wont need a jumper harness. my motor is obd2 so i had to purchase a jumper harness to run the p72 ecu.
just keep the stock itr motor. they make good power for what they are. you can even do a cheap hondata street tune and throw in some JDM ITR cams and put down some decent numbers on the dyno. all motor is the way to go =D
I would do ls/vtec. its cheap and most shops can do the conversion for you cheap or you can even buy the kit on ebay for like 200 bucks and do it all yourself. all you will need to do is tap a hole for the oil line kit that is supplied with the kit. you can run stock ls/vtec and beat up on...
throttle position sensor might be bad. also you may have a wiring mess in that car unless your running the wrong ecu but most b-series ecu's can work properly depending on obd1/obd2. find out what distributor your using and find out which obd it is and then check for the proper ecu. if all...
no check engine light on. BUT i looked at the motor today and saw that there is a line that runs out of the rear of the head (kinda buy valve cover). looks like a little metal hose like thing for a vacuum line or something. anyhow there isnt anything on it its just open. also, the aftermarket...
