changing the fluid is pretty easy. take the speed sensor out, then remove the tranny drain plug to drain the fluid. then the normal fill plug so you know when its full. get a long skinny funnel and pour the fluid through the speed sensor hole till you see it start to come out of the regular fill...

yes your correct, just plug the harness in as usual then order a obd2a-obd1 jumper harness, then cut the wires for the vtec sol and vtec pressure switch and run them into the engine bay. then just plug the p28 in and it should work. oh yeah and the IACV needs to be converted to two wire instead...
if you already did the mpfi then just add the plugs you need. or if you want to pay the money for a plug and play harness that will look really clean go with rywire.
are you obd0 or obd1? taht should tell you what harness you need. what ecu are you wantign to run? are you plannign on using an ecu jumper harness?
if your obd0 and not plannign on runnign a p28 with jumper harness you should just do a simple MPFI swap on a obd0 harness and be done with it.
post what CEL's you are throwing, crome wouldn't just "drop" a map if it was runngin fine to begin with. sounds liek you messed with something and either unplugged a sensor or have a nice sized vacuum leak.
