Unfortunetly there isn't much available beyond the 404's for the NA non-vtecs. Unless he plans on doing a vtec head swap at some point, or doing some MAJOR head modifications to fit the 405's (12mm lift, which still may be under camming, I would have to check), there is no other option. :(

There is no streetable non-vtec cam that would benifit from 12:1 compression or higher. Anything higher than 11.6:1 on 404s is already under-caming. You can't go past the 405a cam with out doing some MAJOR work to the head to fit larger lobes. The 404s are extremely daily drivable =)

I don't see why not, the B16 has very little side-loading. B20 has much worse side loading and 84mm bore. (but lets not get into the b20 may have different sleeves again ;) )

Not on an NA or low boosted 4cyl. You can only open up and reshape the stock manifold so much, and even then its doubtfully the bottleneck. Just because he set a lot of records doesn't mean he isn't an asshole. ;)

as far as I know toda doesn't make a whole replacement oil pump, they only sell a billet oil pump gear replacement.

Any B series oil pump will work. Though the ITR/GSR flow more than the B18B's (not sure about the B16's?) I beleave from 99+ all B series had the same oil pump though, which is on par with the ITR's. If you really want to go all out, Endyn sells dubured and bored out ITR pumps for less windage.

Beyond an increase in compression, the B18C1 head also has larger quench pads which are extremely important in preventing detonation / running cooler and getting more complete combustion.
