Alright I am back at it again... I recall how much fun my last Honda was and decided to get back in them and do some thing I always wanted to do... So I am going to rebuild/build a z6 and turbo it. Ive done alot of searching and I figured I have a few questions of my own.
Things to keep in...
I guess it depends on if your doing the work your self or not. Ive always done things myself and always took my time in finding good deals. Depending on your location parts can be very cheap or very expensive. Id def replace the water pump.... wouldnt want it to leak and cause the belt to slip...
What exactly are you trying to do? If your looking for reliable then id grab a D16Y8 or a d16z6 and slap it in.
If done correctly you can shop around and find a motor and transmission cheap. I did a complete d series swap, replaced clutch and added headers and other MISC gaskets for a...
Convert it to obd1,wire up the dizzy, wire in vtec,.... Wire in 2 more injectors to convert to mpfi. There is tons of write ups on converting it to mpfi.
First off there is 100's of topics covering this... Use the search function also google can be your friend.
I havent done this swap in awhile... But I think you will be better off using a obd0-obd1 jumper harness for the ecu you can shop around and get them for around 50 dollars. But if you...
Alright i am doing this swap tomorrow.
This is what I got.
1.D16Z6(complete)
2.OBD0 injectors(just in case)
3.OBD 1 Dizzy
4.OBD0-OBD1 jumper harness
5.D16A6 HARNESS
6.P28
7. 4 wire O2 sensor
Is that every thing i'll need to swap over??? Besides wiring all the wires and shit?
I don't think I said it was 180 out???? Anyway I am was informing him to check the basics. I just did this exact swap and the 2 problems I ran into were timing and firing order.
alight so I have the harness from the DX in front of me. First thing ive noticed is my 88 SI Driver side connector is a 6 pin and the DX engine harness has a 8 pin round. I did a little research and found I could swap over the connectors so I depinned and matched the colors.
From what ive read...
No worries man. Your ignition timing is no doubt wrong due to the fact you have removed the distributor. Need a timing light once u get the thing running a bit.
Also go ahead and run a compression check on that engine you got. If you dont have a compression checked rent one at autozone.
So u have the B7 intake and harness on the B2??? Check all grounds aswell and conenctions. Also make sure you hear the fuel pump prime when u turn the key on to.. Oh and dont forget to check the firing order make sure its correct. Also try adjusting the distributor a little bit to see if u can...
exactly. Take the Complete intake wich the harness should be attached to and put it on the B2 head.
My guess is ur having problems because u have a car thats MPFI and ur using a DPFI intake. Not gonna work.
So just swap the harness back to the B7 intake and then remove the B7 intake and...
First off yes you could use that motor. For starters take the intake/wiring harness off the B7 and put it on the B2
the rest is pretty much plug and play. and if you already did all this.
Check timing,spark,and fuel.
Ok so far this is what I have.
1.ECU jumper harness OBD0 to OBD1
2.A harness from a 1988 CRX that has been converted 2 MPFI
So I should be able to use that other harness sense its been converted to MPFI correct? Then all i'd have to do is wire vtec and other sensors?
No I was just lookin. Because dude that gave me the tranny with the swap said some thin about JDM l3. I couldnt really understand him really. Anyway thanks for the info everyone.
