D15B7 swap to a D15B2

Is it possible to run a D15B2 in a D15B7 car??? I know this sounds really bad, but my fiance got a motor for her 93 Honda civic DX which originally had a D15B7 in it. HOWEVER, the motor she got was a D15B2. We didn't realize the difference until the motor was already in the car.

It won't start at all. What can I or do I need to do to make this work.

I used the D15B7 distributor on the D15B2 I don't know what to do about it not starting.

Please Help.

First off yes you could use that motor. For starters take the intake/wiring harness off the B7 and put it on the B2

the rest is pretty much plug and play. and if you already did all this.

Check timing,spark,and fuel.

Thanks for replying. I already am using the wiring harness and distributor from the B7.

The B2 was complete with head/intake so I didn't swap any of those parts out with the B7.

How do I go about checking the timing/spark/fuel???

Ok, I checked spark. It's good on all 4 plugs.

I apparently didn't read your reply correctly. Do you mean swap out the entire intake off the B7 and put in onto the B2?? What exactly do you mean intake/wiring harness?

exactly. Take the Complete intake wich the harness should be attached to and put it on the B2 head.

My guess is ur having problems because u have a car thats MPFI and ur using a DPFI intake. Not gonna work.

So just swap the harness back to the B7 intake and then remove the B7 intake and slap it on the B2 should work just fine.

Ive done this exact swap before so if u need any more help let me know

make sure to get a new intake gasket. plug all your injectors in aswell 2.

So u have the B7 intake and harness on the B2??? Check all grounds aswell and conenctions. Also make sure you hear the fuel pump prime when u turn the key on to.. Oh and dont forget to check the firing order make sure its correct. Also try adjusting the distributor a little bit to see if u can atleast make it pop or sputter or some thin.

If u need a firing order diagram there is plenty of pics on google and here.


But any way if its a good motor my guess is your timing and firing order is off. U can pull a plug to see if its wet.

Yes, B7 intake and B7 harness on the B2. Grounds are good. Have good fuel pressure, and it looked like there was fuel on the spark plugs. I'll have to try the distributor tomorrow. How do I check the timing??

No worries man. Your ignition timing is no doubt wrong due to the fact you have removed the distributor. Need a timing light once u get the thing running a bit.

Also go ahead and run a compression check on that engine you got. If you dont have a compression checked rent one at autozone.

como? you can't install the dizzy 180 out, and setting it dead center in the range of travel will allow it to start and run perfectly. this isn't a small block chevy, i can assure OP that ignition timing is not the problem here.

I don't think I said it was 180 out???? Anyway I am was informing him to check the basics. I just did this exact swap and the 2 problems I ran into were timing and firing order.

I actually got it running. I did the unthinkable/unbelievable mistake. When I installed the distributor, the rotor wasn't on #1 cylinder. All I did was took off the rotor, spun it 180 and it fired right up.

HOWEVER, now I've got another problem. I used the belt from the B7 because I had just changed it not to long ago.

Now the timing belt is sliding off the pulley??? I just don't know what is wrong now. If you think I should start another thread, just let me know.
