Im thinking about buying a 88 civic hatch has a ls swap done. The body needs paint, and rims. The guy said a rod is knocking and he lives hr away. 500$ isnt a bad price, I'm just a little lost. Would it be worth it to fix the ls or just swap in something different? Thanks for the help.

depends on your budget. you should be able to get a long block for pretty cheap. a raw shell is generally around $500. just depends on how much work you can/want to do. Best case you get a long block for $400, si wheels for $300, and a maaco job for $500 and sell it some day for $2200-ish.

Definitely don't try to buy it and drive it that far, it's gonna blow.

consider the block toast. what do you have? a rusted shell.
is that worth it to you?

you could probably find a better shape roller with stock motor for 500
