i bought a 89 civic hatch from a friend. his motor overheated. i guess cuz oh his radiator. bought it for $200. i have an oportunity to buy a d15b2 for $100.

i was wondering if this motor will swap right in? any changes to the harness? ive been searching... but im new to civics and sohc. i mostly mess with integras and b series. ive read something abot mpfi and dpfi conversions. i hope this isnt necessary in my case. is there anything else i need to buy? new ecu? i think the b16a6 has the pm6, and ive read i need the pm5 or 4. so much info :( dont know whats reliable info.

someone help.

bottom line is: i have a chance to buy the d15b2... and replace my busted d16a6... should i just do it? i just want to get this car running. if getting this motor working right in my 89 civic dx will be somewhat easy and inexpensive, ill go for it.:D

well the d15b2 motor has a different harness because its dpfi and not mpfi like the si motor.also the ecu is different, but other than that its perty much a direct swap

so i have an si motor... does that mean the whole car is an si? maybe that motor was swapped in. i dont see any SI decals.

here is info from wikipedia

according to the above, my car originally had a d15b2. am i right? so... if my car is a DX... with a d16a6, im assuming that it was swapped in.

confused. :( anywayssssss. this would also mean that i have an si harness... so BASICALLY... i would just need to get the original parts (motor, ecu, engine harness) and BAM. done, no?

take the intake manifold, injectors, etc. along with the distributor from the D16A6 and install them on the D15B2 and drop it in - just like doing a DPFI to MPFI swap, except the wiring is already done

dont the b2's have a graphite head gasket?
I though it was called metal composite. Anyway the A6s have the same gasket. Most '92 and up use a stainless MLS gasket, it lasts longer if you deck(s) are nice and flat.
