89 teg trans question

is it possible to swap out the 5th gear in my 89 integra with one from another honda, (from 88-90 crx hf)? I drive 100 miles a day and am looking to increase gas milage and reduce wear and tear on the engine. At 55 mph it is racing around 3100 rpm!

That's a D-series engine you have. Why not just replace the entire transmission. It's not like used D-series gearboxes are stupid expensive...
