The mother of a 21-year-old man shot to death early Monday after a traffic accident heard police called to the scene of her son's demise while she worked as a 911 telephone operator, the man's grandmother said.

The victim, identified as David L. LeFlore of Milwaukee, was involved in a crash, called for friends and pursued the other car to demand payment for damage to his vehicle, according to Milwaukee police.
When the group caught up to the other car near N. 36th and W. Congress streets, an argument erupted and more people were summoned, police said. LeFlore was shot to death at 2:35 a.m.
Police are looking for suspects.
LeFlore's mother, Laticia Robinson, heard reports of the shooting before learning later that the victim was her own son, said LeFlore's grandmother, Bobby Robinson.
Robinson said her daughter was taking the news of her son's death extremely hard.
By Monday afternoon, bunches of flowers had been placed near the scene of the crime in a makeshift shrine.
LeFlore had a 1-year-old son, Wanya Jackson, and had recently started taking business courses at Milwaukee Area Technical College's Oak Creek campus hoping to provide a better future for him, said Miya Rogers, LeFlore's sister.
"I know he really wanted to make sure his son was taken care of," Rogers said. "He had a troubled past, you know? But he made sure he did everything he could to make sure his son's life was taken care of."
Rogers refuted police accounts of the accident and said her brother wasn't involved in the accident and instead was simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time."
In an unrelated homicide, police found a Grand Rapids, Mich., man dead in a car at 9:40 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of W. Wright St.
Wallace McCray suffered a gunshot wound to the body, police said.
They hadn't made any arrests in the case as of Monday evening.
There have been 64 homicides in Milwaukee this year compared with 45 at this time last year.
