hey guys,
I am in the process of replacing my daily driver sunfire with a civic. I am looking into my options and i am stuck between the 99 civic si and civic ex with b18c1 swap and rear disc brake conversion. My plans are to eventually build the engine and turbo it. I am eventually looking for around 300 horsepower. Would I be better off buying a 99 civic si? or a cheaper Ex and just do the swap? Is 300 hp a more difficultly attainted number on a b16a2 comapred to a b18c1? all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason

Both engines are very similar, would be easier to build a B18 to 300 horsepower since the displacement is greater, but it will only take slightly less, weigh your options? cost and ease of doing the swap. it will cost $3-4k to put a GSr engine in a car even if you have everything you need to do the swap. It is up to you.

IMHO; having a swapped car is cooler than buying an SI, but if you find it is going to cost more to put that engine in then just get the SI

Check out the cost difference from buying a Civic LX vs buying a Civic Si.

I'll bet the price difference between the two would allow you to buy a swap for the LX... and it'll be cheaper on insurance as well.

Yeah your much better off buying a lower trim if your gunna build it up.Start with slow and make it all go.
