I Own A 99 Civic Si, I Have A Few Modifications Nothing Major. A Friend Of Mine Offred To Help Me Swap My Block Out For A Ls 1.8 .. Theres A Place Locally Here Thats Selling One.

My Question Is,

Is It Worth It ?

Is There Alot Of Things I Would Have To Do ?

Is And Will There Be A Large Increase In Horse Power ?

Can I Still Use The B16 Head, I Just Bought Skunk 2 Valves, Springs & Retainers So I Wouldnt Want To Gve Up My Head ...

I Would Like To Do Something Major For My Car To Increase Horsepower Some Time Soon But I Have Never Thought About Swaping My Block

Thanks Every One

k thanks,, also im not the one doing the project but, i would like to make sure everything is done properlly .. are there any site or thread listing all the modifications i would have to do , to use a b18 block with 99 si

thanks

thank you every one !!

another question .. how important or crucial is it to change the Ls pistons.. could i use the stock Ls pistons and not replace them at all ?

Not to be a total dick here or anything but did you read that write up at all?? LS pistons do not have large enough reliefs for the intake valves.

i did read it and i did read that part , its just ive heard contradicting information from different web sites ..

i know of a few people on line that are running the ls pistons with boost and it works just fine .. personaly i though it the concern was becouse the ls pistons would give you a lower compression ratio .. but i wanted to make sure that wasnt the only reason which is why after reading that i still asked that question..

thanks every one .

ok changing the subject slightly .. would it be worth it & easier to just trade my b16 for a gsr ??

the guy that is swaping blocks with me also has a gsr .. but only thing is the gsr engine has about 200k miles on it ... the Ls block only has about 60k miles

sounds so much simpler to just swap out the whole engine.. really didnt want to give up my si head just got all new skunk2 valvetrain in it but ..nt sure which route to take now

Ls block w/ a Si head and all the necesary modifications ??

or

swap out the whole engine for a 200k GSR ??

please help

Well you are going to have a lot less work on your hands with a 2k gsr swap but you're not going to put down near as much power. That ls block with some p30 pistons and the head setup you are talking about would be pretty beefy without spending a ton of cash. You'll also need slightly bigger injectors and a chipped ecu to see the power gains you want... it depends on how much time and money you are willing to spend.

Timing belt on a LS vtec

Doing a LS vtec which timing belt would i use .. Im swaping blocks with a 94 GSR .. Everything else is from my 99 Si ... I ordered a new timing belt before i decided to do the LS-vtec . and they sent me the wrong belt .. The belt i received is for a B18c .. would this belt work with my LS vtec .. or do i need to get a B16 Belt ??

I pm you this also, LS timing belt will fit, upgrading to the more efficient VTEC water pump is a good idea and in doing so, a timing belt from the '94-'01 Integra GS-R
