Working on track time. Or, actually, formal instruction at the track. I have alot to learn about pushing the upper limits of this bike. Nearest track is like 3 hours away, but that isn't really a problem as much as it is a pain in the ass.

Ever want to get your woman on a bike? Buy one of these.

Hoping to get her riding with me. If she shows any interest, I wouldn't hesitate to get her a 250cc bike.

Local yamaha shop. Its a Fulmer, which cannot be purchased online.. They have a policy against it. Call your local shops. Its called a Fulmer J5, and the paint is "Lei Pink" Product Index

Its a "junior" helm. Wife has a small head, even the xs adult helms didn't fit her. This is the small size in junior, lol.

What's the build like? how would you rate it vs an arai?

Its a $99 helmet. Incredible quality for the $, but its no Arai. The liner is made of a lower end material, the venting on top of the head has no on/off capability. Could be chilly in the winter, but Texas has very short and mild winters. DOT rated but not Snell rated.

Wife reports no fogging at all and low noise, good venting and good comfort.. Which are all good things.

If I had to guess, an arai is twice as much helmet for 6 times the cash. If that makes any sense at all. Still, its a decent helmet and looks as though it'd do decent protecting the head. Fulmer makes a great entry level hemlet.

DOT rated but not Snell rated.
Thats the difference in a $100 helmet and a $300 helmet, all my motocross helmets have been Snell approved. I want somerthing thats I can trust to protect my noggin.

 Thats always a plus.

DUDE, Really like that you decided to go black/black other than the repsol because that bike is fucking beautiful. keep it clean.

lets extend that swingarm, lower that bitch, spray it, put yourself a cheater sprocket on and you can be in the low 6's 1/8th mile that is lol

:tfg:

sorry to jack the helmet conversation, but have you taken it to a dyno? some 600's put out around 95-100hp easy, so i was wondering what a 1000 could do....

Its been on a dyno one time, and I didn't get to look at the numbers. Odd, I know. Supposed to kick out 159hp at 11,500rpm. I certainly believe it. The dealership ran it on a dyno at the 600 mile checkup and said it was "within spec". They wouldn't let me back there or anywhere within viewing distance while they did the check up. Kind of pissed me off.

The helmet I wear is an HJC CL-15. Was something like $137 at the stealership, minus 10% for buying the bike that day, and it is dot/snell rated. I read a billion reviews and so far, its a very good helm. About as cheap as you can find one snell rated. No fogging, great venting, very comfortable. The wind gets a little turbulent at high speeds, pretty irritating, but I'm not sure thats the helmets fault, probably buffeting from the windshield. Highways speed you'd never notice.

ok... did austin20110 send anyone else negative rep because "you dont know anything about bikes" because im pretty sure a few posts back he was under the impression that to make your bike any good you needed to "extend that swingarm, lower that bitch, spray it, put yourself a cheater sprocket on and you can be in the low 6's 1/8th mile that is lol"

Guess what austin,
your a fucking idiot.

didnt say anything about making it "any good" was a joke but guess you didnt get it

I didn't get any negative rep. Glad it was a joke though, without knowing you we got the impression that you might have been half serious.

Ah well, its all good. Don't shit in the thread.

Yeah, the flashy gear was to make up for the black/black bike. I purposely picked out stuff that would turn heads but still look decent. White/red/orange seemed to fit the bill. Very bright.

If the world were a safe place, I'd have just purchased the matching black/gray CBR jacket from honda and a black helm/gloves/boots/etc. I'd rock the all black look. But no, I have to dress like a fucking clown in hopes that granny can make out my outline before pulling out in front of me with her 1912 cadillac.

Still.. Its a long shot.
Wish my grandma had a 1912 caddy...
Yeah, best harley is the pre-AMF-bullshit ones. Early ass flatheads, knuckleheads, even the sportsters i guess even though AMF sucks. I like rat bikes though. Nothin better than a flat black, no fender sportster with oil runnin all down the jug. Old fashioned suicide converted after the dumbass right hand shift. Sorry, nice ass bike. wanted to get the burnt orange 600rr but i figured now is not the time to get a bike loan with college and all.
