the situation down there is a problem but that doesn't absolve a corporate entity from giving millions of $ to a terrorist organization. You want to critique your country when it acts, and when it doesn't act.
if this had been a headline saying America was ignoring their funding of terror you'd jump to the other side of this issue so fast it would make your head spin
if nothing else understand this, Sabz and I actually agree on something, during these rare occurrences the chance for us actually being on the wrong side of this issue is negligible.
go play FFVII
in doing that they perpetuate what you claim they see as a problem. The company could have asked for help citing what they had to do to remain safe, they didn't. And that's why their in trouble
This is ONLY a publicity stunt BY THE US GOVERNMENT to safe face.

Amazing, isn't it?
well if this place is so horrible leave. By elevating their problem to the government you put the ball in their court, either they act or they can't fault you for staying alive. The banana company didn't care about the moral implications of their actions and the government is taking steps in accordance with the policies of the war on terror.
Funding terrorism is funding terrorism is funding terrorism. You can't say that you are fighting terrorism wherever it exists then turn around and allow a corporation to funnel US DOLLARS into other terror organizations just so they can turn a profit. That makes our efforts look less genuine and more like... a war for oil.
I'll side with anyone that says that terror must be stopped in all forms. I may not agree with the Iraq war, but I certainly agree that terror must be exterminated.
That gives those death squads and terror groups the money and arms required to do exactly what Saddam Hussein did to his people. And if those groups threaten our country, are you still willing to say "Ho hum, at least I have my 'nanners!"
Funding terror, no matter the reason, is wrong.
I know, I'm gonna go lay down for awhile
Silver, you always act like you have way more information than everyone else...and you don't, none of us know jack shit about the specific circumstances of this issue.
but I'm cool in real life, ask ur mom
I don't say I'm cool, but I'm educated and was raised around politics. I stay current on world events, and BTW I wrote for 411politics until I stepped down due to scheduling conflicts
the people who said I was cool were my fucking readers, and the fact of the matter here is outside of Sabz, Cel, and LSVTEC there aren't many of you on here who can lace my boots politically
EDIT: I'm done here, I'm not spoon feeding you anymore
the sad truth of the matter is that bribes and payoffs are most definitely a very much alive part of the way things operate these days
Chiquita sold off the Colombian operations to a subsidiary and things will continue like normal, except the subsidiary will pay and not the US based company
