I don't know the code for the engine, but I know that in the EX, I had one, it is a 1.7 DOHC VTEC. Not too bad an engine, but 127 Flywheel HP.

No, you're wrong. If you had one you would know that it has a 1.7 SOHC VTEC. Not the DOHC. The 1.7 DOHC VTEC was in the 90-90 GSR. The hp is correct though, 127.

The engines in the 7G non Si Civics are either D17A1 or D17A2.

I could have sworn that my 01 Ex was DOHC, maybe I was wrong. That was just my get around car, saved up for the SI.

What do you mean you coulda sworn your EX was a DOHC? There's no way in hell you could even feel the VTEC kick in on the EX.

Well, it was my get around car, I don't think I ever put it over 4000 RPM's, maybe a few times, it was two years ago, I really can't remember.

all USDM Civics come/came with a SOHC motor except the 99-00 Si and 02-03 Si.
just in case someone tries to be a jackass and get technical, there is one exception to this rule. the early model Del Sols were called Civic Del Sol, still part of the Civic family, and the VTEC models had a DOHC motor.
