what would the compression ratio be if u mate a y8 head on a y5 block. according to this link http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm the y5 pistons have a greater dish than the y8 pistons ( 0.58mm difference ) so i assume the compression ratio is likely to decrease. what i couldnt figure out is that by how much would it drop.

The compression would be lower than a Y8 (if the pistons have more dish), but it would still be higher than the stock Y5 because the combustion chambers in the Y8 head are smaller. I couldn't tell you exactly what the compression would be- find out the dish volume of the Y5 pistons along with their compression height, then run it all through the calculator again.
