coulda been a .50 cal rifle getten them dawgs. my gramps had a chinese one and we blew a chunk out of a deer about the size of a prarie dog.

needless to say we were pissed when most of our venison was gone.

The U.S. standard for for M-2 .50 cal ball is 12 inches at 600 meters, which is hardly the stuff of precision marksmanship. M-2 50 cal. 709-gr bullet w/ muzzle velocity of 2,850 FPS will have a -20.6 inch trajectory at 400 m. Even with the Maximum effective 60 degree target angle a 400 m shot with a .50 would require 19.5 inches of compensation. Now, add that to the fact that the lil ole dawg was moving sometimes and that means time in flight would be .4638 seconds @ 400 m requiring a moving target (2 mph) to have a lead of 16.30 inches! Just too many equations and highly doubtful that it was anywhere near a .50 cal
