Some civilian security in Iraq are getting paid $12,000 a month. A humvee mechanic can make upwards of $90,000. 200K, 10 mil...same chance never to enjoy it.

Got back from MEPS with absolutely nothing done. Since I was suppose to go on Tuesday but they fucked up my projection I didnt go til wednesday. I sat there in the office cuz my recruiter left my stuff with them the previous day. and I kept telling the people there that they have my jacket(packet of all my info) and all the guy did was look on his desk and told me, "it's not here." So after sitting in the office for 4 hours I had to call my recruiter and tell him to come get me. As soon as he got there he talked to them and found the folder IN FRONT OF THE DESK. Just where they put that shit the day before. So I didn't get to take a physical or anything.

Now, I know all of you hate recruiters with a passion, but I respect him a lot more now for the simple fact that he stood up for me there. He told the guy at the desk, "You don't do that shit to my guys. You have no fuckin' clue how hard some of these guys work just to get here." Anyways, looks like I'm going back on Monday, but the difference is that the recruiter is going to be there with me the whole day to make sure they don't try to pull this shit again.

That's your recruiters job...you. The Army pays him (and well I might add) to make sure that you get in with little to no problems. I would be dissapointed to see a recruiter that didn't do everything he could to make it an easy transition for you.

My buddies recruiter took a UA for him to get in. They don't mess around in a liberal ass state like washington.

You're going in the Army? :bash: save yourself now. they are fuckin nasty. you will get like 30 minutes to run 2 miles, WTF? we run our 3mile in less than 28 minutes. Do yourself a favor, join the marine corps. you will thank me. i have a lot of family in the army, and i could not ever imagine being in it. I don't think ill ever ragret choosing the Marine Corps.

and btw dotn fuckin believe your recruiter. get any promises IN WRITING, signed by them. but remember that still never means shit. the military can screw you at any time. when you go to MEPS you will sign a paper that there were no other promises made to you unless they are written right on that line, so remember that.

BTW about he private security, the Blackwater guys are making up to 250k to 300k a year over there, but yea the amount that actually make it home is not that good.

EDIT: yea my spelling is all jacked up, idont feel like fixing it

Try 14 minutes or less, the time is the same, you guys just do more (on a test). But our average PT run is aroumd five to six miles, usually at a 8 minute mile, unless this one NCO is doing it, then it's more like a 6.5-7

well all i know is that i saw a big ass group of army guys doing their PFT, or whatever you call it, there at Miramar a few months back, and there were guys coming in at over 30 minutes.

hey just so you all know i am not trying to start an argument over whos better, so dont take it the wrong way. IMO the marines was a better decision for me, maybe for some people its not, to each their own. but like i said, from wht i have seen, the army guys are unorganized and not as disciplined, of course thats not the army as a whole.

BTW hopefully i will be going over to the sandbox by september. that is if they pick me to go. our unit doesnt deploy as a whole, they just send like 5 or 6 guys from our shop, and our staff NCO is retiring soon, so i dont know if he is going to pick who goes or not. hopefully he does becasue i already talked to him and told him i wanted to go for sure.

so wee you actually in fallujah when all the shit went down? i heard its still pretty sketchy there right now.

and 1st MEF patch? where would you wear a patch at? so were you attached to a MEF once you got over there or did you go over on a MEU or what?

Yea we were with the first wave, exciting, if that's the word you would use :)

We were attached to the 1st Marine Epeditionary Force that went in, we wear combat patchs on the right shoulder, and our unit patch on teh left.

I'm finally back, I got 91W health care specialist, airborne jump school, $8000 sign on bonus, $66,000 college fund, and am now officially E-3 (PFC). So basically my occupation is now a Army Airborne Combat Medic. I leave on August 4.
