1996- IE4 owns.
1998 - NN4.7 comes out and takes over.
1999- ie 5 comes out, soon followed by ie 5.5 and becomes the browser again
2001 - ie6 comes out, and takes ie 5.5 to the next level

B. if you just looking for a web browser you should check out
Mozilla Firebird - it's based on mozilla 1.4

unless you really need the Browser , Email Client, Chatzilla , etc..

things you should check out for mozilla 1.6, Mouse Gestures (fucking rule)
oh and welcome to tabbed browsing, and one click google search.
also the Spam Filter works amazingly, it sucks at first until you teach it what is spam
and what isn't.
