gsr with sir trans on 91 integra

ok i have a 91 integra with a 1st gen sir setup in it. my friend and i are going to trade motors.he has a gsr motor. there is no money envolved in this swap at all. i wanted to get a drag turbo kit. i only plan on running 7psi. how will that trans handle the boost. i dont really want to get another trans but if it helps alot i'll get it.

it will handle it fine,,,honda trannies are good from the factory, the only problem I hear about is the b16 trannies that when a good amount of TQ is applied that the differential breaks, the b16 differential is actually smaller than the GSR's.

LS trans would be better do to longer gearing tho, b16 will work fine, but spend the 100 bucks or less for an LS tranny.

the LS tranny has gearing that is too long...


If your trying to run 1/4s then you need quick gearing.

while that is true for the 94+ ls tranny, the 91-93 i want to say LS tranny actually has a 4.40 FDR like the sir2 does. it is STILL a hair longer, but not AS long as the 94+ ls tranny.

that said, stick with the b16 tranny.
if you have the cash, buy a Quaiffe differential
if its too short (doubtful until you are running low 12s) its time to get a larger slick.
the fastest your car will be at the track, is when you pass the traps at the end 100 rpm before your redline (or, where you start to not make any more power up top and its time to shift) in 4th. if you are looking for 5th, you need a larger slick

why is that? who the fuck came up with it? where'd you hear it? ...explain please .

because going to 5th in a street car is unheard of. top of 4th gear will take most cars well into the 120+ mph range with a 24.5 tall slick.
not many people run 130+ in a street honda.
moreover, 5th gear has no balls, and the time it takes you to bang another gear makes you slower.

go look around on h-t's drag racing forum, and you'll see the same thing

its true, id way rather burrow my LS in the redline, up to 7200RPM, than shift into 5th, just do to the amazing power loss i get when in 5th. 5th gear is a freeway gear, not acceleration. talk with any real driver and they all say the same thing.

my friend got his quaiffe LSD from lordco. so my guess is any automotive shop that carries their stuff should have it. if not go to the websight and do it through there.

a quaiffe IS a regular LSD. lol

the others are half as good, and the quaiffe comes with a lifetime warranty.

you're in the wrong sport if you don't have cash. lol everyhting is 1000 bucks here, 1000 there...

i have another question about fuel and boost. i want to run 12 psi or even close but i know that i cant do it without fuel and tunning. tell me if i listed every thing that i will need and what i didnt list for this project. my car is obd0 so i cant use a honda data system and im getting a drag turbo kit.

APEXi TURBO TIMER
aem fuelrail,
fuel pressure regulator,
370 injectors,
additional performance fuel pump,
get the car dynoed the right way.
