I work for Honda, and have owned both a 2016, and the new gen 2017 CRV. The Honda CVT is very reliable. For me, the worst thing about them is the lack of torque converter torque multiplication and a tall true 1st gear. This makes them dogs off of the line. This also means they have terrible engine braking charictaristics at lower speeds. This is all especially true for the non turbo cars. Other than that, they offer aweosme roll on acceleration, and are very responsive at the stab of the gas once underway. Probably the best thing about them is the fact that they are amazing for pulling up hills because it can get the engine to an optimal rpm without making it obtrusive.
