im new to the import scene too but im pritty sure its a company that makes chips to put in ur ecm to control fetures like fuel maping and timing, i think they also make a stand alone engine management unit

Hondata is nothing more than software that allows you to change your fuel, ignition, vtec, rev limits, injectors size, etc... Once you have done this you burn that information onto a chip and install the chip into your chipped honda ECU. The hondata blue box you see is a security device so you can't hack into the hondata coding, I also believe you need this box to run a hondata burnt chip.

If your a DIY person try looking into uberdata. This is free ROM editor that does all the basic things hondata does. It's software that allows you to change fuel, ignition, etc... Then you justy need to socket your ECU ($25 in parts), buy a chip burner ($75-$125), and have your car tuned on the dyno or buy a wideband and tune yourself.

i feel like if the dude doesn't know what hondata is, chances are he's not going to be ready to tune his own car
