Skylines with the RB26-DETT (R34's), and Supra's with the 2JZ-GTE are very similar cars when it comes to the engine and the power made. Both cars are inline 6's, twin turbo and make similar power. Both benefit from a Twin-to-Single turbo modification (You wont see a 1000hp sky or supra on a sequential twin setup), and both have a huge selection of aftermarket support. In terms of who is faster..... I say it depends. You should check out Sport compact Car magazine's "Ultimate street car challange 2003" (
www.sportcompactcarweb.com) and see. The top 3 finishers went like this(for those who dont know):
First place: ACR Viper
Second place: R34 Skyline
Third Place: Supra TT
Yes, the viper killed, it was a monster of a car, and blew away everyone on the road course. The supra had tens of thousands of $$$ into it, and pulled the best dyno run with 600+HP, no spray (had it, didnt use it). This is all well and good, but the real cinderella story was the skyline. It was pretty much stock in every way. it ripped a 515 HP dyno run, jumped of the dyno twice, killed on the road course, and was the only car in the competition that was daily driven.
Read the article "The Warriors" to learn more about the skyline, and the supra. Just do a search on the website.
My favourite? Skyline, hands down. Great engine, 50-50 weight ratio, AWD, and great styling.
All these cars are great, but the person who said that the nsx is the greatest jap car EVER made.................thats cute. The best, most powerfull, most unobtainable, fastest jap car ever made isnt even a road car...It's a rally car. It's sole purpose is to race uphill. It has two engines, and is made by Suzuki. You know it, I know it, The Escudo. No Jap car can or will beat it....period, end of discussion. Stick racing slicks on it and will dominate in every way.
