Who cares about the 360 modena though...last I knew they were too expensive for anyone on this board. Hell, the GTR, Z51 and Porsche are too expensive for anyone either.

if you lived in japan you can probally afford a skyline. they are around 40k brand new. its like buying an audi in america.

Well none of us Live there currently (yes AirJockie you're the exception at different points in time) but yeah, you see my point. :P

PERSONALLY... the NSX owns EVERY Jap car EVER made. And it would probably be one of the 5 best on planet earth if it wasn't for the 'gentlemen's agreement.' It would actually give Ferrari a run for their money in every category.

I will have to dissagree with that.....

like I said my friends NSX is not even CLOSE to his brothers TT Supra, and all he has is a down pipe and a boost controler and may be a different cluch,

so I don't know about that...

best motoring did a race between; porsche 911 turbo, evo VII rs, 360 modena, a z51 vette, gt-r, and a nsx. the porsche came in first, skyline second, evo VII; all in a loose pack. about 2 seconds behind them came the nsx, about 1 second the 360, and about 3 seconds behind is the vette.

If you want to talk about best motoring, a crx that was modified whooped on a Highly modified NSX... not to say that nsx's are bad cars. NSX's , Skylines, and Supras all compete in the in the JGTC, and they are all highly competetive; most people that buy Skylines buy them for the unobtainium status, at least that's what I'd buy it for. I wouldn't seriously race it, that's for sure; not unless I was indepentently wealthy beyond my wildest dreams of course.

You guys have every right to disagree. But remember that the NSX is without turbos from factory. NSX heads have one of the best heads on the planet when flow-bench tested against Ferraris and so on. And.... when it comes to mad HP. Look at Papadakis' NSX engine... 1400hp with turbos... it is capable of everything that Supras and Skylines are.

SIDENOTE: The Skyline engine IS freaking SICK though. Asmallsol said it correct when he noted that 'the block is a beast.' It will pump out 1000 whp without a sweat.

But unfortunately... as much as I love the Supra and Skyline... I don't feel they have made quite the impact on the world as the 300ZX or NSX have made.

Pissedoffsol - Who in the hell is Scott???

Skylines with the RB26-DETT (R34's), and Supra's with the 2JZ-GTE are very similar cars when it comes to the engine and the power made. Both cars are inline 6's, twin turbo and make similar power. Both benefit from a Twin-to-Single turbo modification (You wont see a 1000hp sky or supra on a sequential twin setup), and both have a huge selection of aftermarket support. In terms of who is faster..... I say it depends. You should check out Sport compact Car magazine's "Ultimate street car challange 2003" (www.sportcompactcarweb.com) and see. The top 3 finishers went like this(for those who dont know):
First place: ACR Viper
Second place: R34 Skyline
Third Place: Supra TT
Yes, the viper killed, it was a monster of a car, and blew away everyone on the road course. The supra had tens of thousands of $$$ into it, and pulled the best dyno run with 600+HP, no spray (had it, didnt use it). This is all well and good, but the real cinderella story was the skyline. It was pretty much stock in every way. it ripped a 515 HP dyno run, jumped of the dyno twice, killed on the road course, and was the only car in the competition that was daily driven.
Read the article "The Warriors" to learn more about the skyline, and the supra. Just do a search on the website.
My favourite? Skyline, hands down. Great engine, 50-50 weight ratio, AWD, and great styling.
All these cars are great, but the person who said that the nsx is the greatest jap car EVER made.................thats cute. The best, most powerfull, most unobtainable, fastest jap car ever made isnt even a road car...It's a rally car. It's sole purpose is to race uphill. It has two engines, and is made by Suzuki. You know it, I know it, The Escudo. No Jap car can or will beat it....period, end of discussion. Stick racing slicks on it and will dominate in every way. :worthy:

Spec II's run the quarter somewhere in the 12 sec area. AND the reason they are rated at 280hp is bevause the japanese gov. doesn't want a horsepower battle between the companies (we all know they could easily produce 600+HP cars from the factory if not restricted). Havent any of you noticed that the Supra TT, Skyline, NSX, and a few others all have a "rated" 280hp. With the skyline and supra all you have to do is turn the wastegate up to easily bump the engine to well over 300. It just depends if you want to get a screwdriver out.

Yeah... the escudo is quite the production car that runs on the street everyday isn't it???

in that scc challenge the skyline was only a few points from beatin the viper.

you will see a skyline or supra with a TT setup that will make more than 1000hp. here's one of them Exvitermini , the car is called "GTR-700"

the skyline is nose heavy; it doesnt have the 50-50 weight ratio.

i dont think the escudo will win in a road course, even with the slicks. it has two motors, which add weight. it is not a production car so you cant compare it to cars like nsx, skyline, etc, even though lots of them can make the same power as the escudo. and if you want to compare it to another jap car(non-production), try the BAR honda f1 car in road course.

theres quite a few 1000+hp skylines and supras out there
there has been for a while now

adnoh - The Escudo has a 2.5L Twin Turbo V6. Not two engines. But one. It makes 800+ hp. And Skylines have twin turbo setups making 1000 hp all the time. Have you not seen any Jap race videos with Top Secret or anyone??? The Skyline doesn't have 50-50 weight ratio.

EDIT: It seems like you guys are flaming me on my OPINION on the NSX. I love the car because Honda didn't use boost to create a killer car. The NSX is very much like a Ferrari.... IT IS THE JAPANESE FERRARI. It's handbuilt giving it superior quality to a Supra. It has excellent weight distribution, it is known for it's crisp handling (it's MR), and it brought VTEC race technology to production cars which spawned the 1992 Integra GS-R. No matter what you guys feel... the NSX is my baby. :)

Yes, your right.....the Escudo Pikes peak edition does only have one engine. But there are a few Escudo's made with two. I tried to search for them on the internet but couldnt find any info. Figures..... anyone with info on the twin engine, twin turbo V6 version please help.

Now that I think about it. I've heard of a two engine Escudo as well. Wasn't the one from GT2 supposedly having two engines and then I kept trying to find info on one with twin engines but... like you... was unable to.
