I'm at work and I'm laughing like an idiot at this CNN article... It looks all grim and shit, until the end of it:

Ater the announcement, Bush and McClellan walked across the lawn together and boarded Marine One, but a problem with the helicopter's radio kept it grounded. The president and his staff were forced to take a motorcade to Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, where Bush was scheduled to depart for Alabama.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH God I can't read it with a straight face !

(Sikorsky lost the Marine 1 contract to a foreign-outsourced company)

-> Steve

They lost the contract...but the contract was for the next generation of Marine one heli's....they are still using Sikorsky helicopters for the next few years. And there is not just one, but a whole fleet of Marine one's. Having a bad radio in a controlled airspace is very bad, so I'm glad it was grounded. They were just following normal operating procedures.

Yeah, in clayton's highlight of the truth, it's sad now.

Actually what's really sad here is that is the president's helicopter. We're talking about one of the best maintained and highly covetted pieces of equipment in the world. This thing is supposed to take him anywhere, at any time, for any reason. Gassed up and close by. Embarassing.
