IAV sensor CEL

hey,
I got a CEL for IAV on the b16. The sensor has readings because when I unplug the sensor while running the engine the engine just dies.

I want to know what's causing the problem before I get a new sensor, and I don't even know what is it exactly that IAVs do.

It's basically a valve controlled by the ecu that opens to regulate idle speed... Try taking it off and cleaning it... They seem to get dirty and cause problems...
