Installing vtec

i want to build a mini-me and was wondering if i had to change any thing or drill any holes when going from a b15 non-vtec head and putting on a d16 vtec head. My buddy was telling me i had to get a bunch of ex parts to make it work?
Do i need a diff. ecu as well?
Stuck some wear in the middle of this head case!
