You guys helped me pick out the last one I got a few years ago. Now Im lookin at a new one. Im just lookin to replace what I have with an updated rig. Ill be usin it the same, mainly web browsing and streaming, along with photo and video editing. Multi tasking is big. I usually have a few programs open while editing, then get on the web to take breaks. My current setup has a 15.6" display, and its been great so Im looking to stay around that size. HD size isnt a huge factor, I keep everything on a USB 3.0 external. Looking to stay under $1000 also.
So, are the Intel Core's still the processor to have? It looks like I have a lot of options loaded with the i5. Is there an AMD option I should look for?
So, Ive come up with these 3 options. In order of how I think they fit my needs.
ASUS F75VD-EB51 17.3" Notebook - Newegg.com
Great price. USB 3.0. A little extra screen size. Are all the components decent?
HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC | HP® Official Store
Decent price. 2 more USB 3.0 ports (really not important at this point). A screen size I know I can work with. Is the processor really that much better? How about the video card? How does the optical drive compare to option 1 (again, not really important at this point)? Also, I currently have an HP and have loved it from day 1.
ASUS A55 Series A55A-NB51 15.6" Notebook - Newegg.com
Best price. Same working screen size. No USB 3.0, but I know I can work with it. Seems to have the lowest level of components outa the 3, all around. True?
Open to suggestions on more options. Aesthetics are a factor too. In the past that ruled Acer out, and thats why I didnt list anything from them.
