I got myself a weekend pass and headed up for a few hours today. HOT out. I only stayed for a couple hours so as to save face (literally) for the real events. Today was mostly practice and qualifying for the sat and monday races (sun = no track due to city ordinance, car show happens instead)
spf50 applied 7 times, and i'm still red. lol Needed to bail so i can walk tomorrow for the real event.Welcome to LimeRock. Hawks were circling overhead all day. Beautiful area.
Outfield was closed today (will be opened tomorrow for the bigger crowds)
I made my way to the pits right away and jumped in on the Turner guy giving the run down of their plans for the weekend, car set up, etc. Very interesting little informal 'speech' in front of their corral.
Lots of cool stuff in the parking lot, as usual. I didn't take many pics here. Will get more/better of the parking areas tomorrow.
Everyone's running this in the trunk it seems. I think its the fire system but can't be sure.
Continental is the tire supplier this year. They have 5 rigs full of race tires there. crazy.
Laugh all you want, but they took outside, row 1 for their heat.
These things are F'ing loud too. Might rival the rx8's..... seriously.
FTD in ST: (59.2.xxx and the kia is right on his ass)
all running d17's from the look of it.
mid-pack from what i could tell.
gti is 3rd in ST
I mostly just tried to stay in the shade so i didn't take a lot of pics, but did do a few laps of the track.
The famous limerock Geese
Here's some parking lot goodness.
m3 GTR and a Ferrari promo car for the upcoming Ferrari challenge in July at the track
coontach
loved these wheels
whole row of hotness
m3 race school car, some Porsche that didn't belong here, exige, tr6, vettes, shelby mustang
The gt3. plated, running pilot sport cups
sick old school racer. i think this is a pre e30 gen, but am not sure. i thought it was an m1 at first from a distance. This was at the Rahal / Letterman trailer:
the old m3 race car. note the lug
the new 1 M, which i hear is going to be 2011 model year limited production of 500 units only. If you have 47k, buy one and park it. Instant money maker.
That's all for today.
