map sensor ???

i found the prob on my lude, the map isnt working properly, i unplugged it and the idle went right back up, the oring around the base was broken also so im gonna try to replace that first and see if that does it, my question is can the car be run without the map?? will it hurt anything, i need to get to work, itll drive with the map in but everytime i push the clutch in i have to rev the engine to keep her alive,
so can i run it without the sensor in??
