i love living according to a 250 year old document. ^_^
The essence of that document holds true today.
A few opinions have changed, such as land owners being able to vote, women's suffrage and the like. But I can see the reasoning behind a lot of the original constitution and bill of rights.
It's still a pertinent document.

Unless I misread the sarcasm, that's pretty darn unamerican. It's got me so in a fluff that I had a whole bunch of stuff typed up that I erased because it's rambling and I kept getting sidetracked...
That document's the only thing keeping us from total socialism, dictatorship, or complete despotism. We owe it everything.
legislators mess this country up not following the constitution. any 'misunderstandings' can be made clear if they read the federalist papers.
i'm looking at the bill of rights mostly. 1791 was a long time ago. let me elaborate.Unless I misread the sarcasm, that's pretty darn unamerican. It's got me so in a fluff that I had a whole bunch of stuff typed up that I erased because it's rambling and I kept getting sidetracked...

freedom of speech and assembly, right to petition. ok, ok. we want to gather and protest british parliament. the thought was relevant, now hippy liberal douche bags and college know it alls use this to protest the government every chance they get. it pisses me to the utmost extent. yeah, you don't have to like our government, but you (americans) choose to live here. i hate when americans talk shit about our government, don't vote, and don't contribute and think they have rights. it's bullshit. people who say, "fuck bush, fuck the government, fuck america" should be given 30 seconds to leave the country or get shot on the spot.Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
- First Amendment – Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause; freedom of speech, of the press, and of assembly; right to petition
bearing arms in 1791 meant protecting your shit from the brits. now gun toting loonies use this to think it's ok to keep a stash of ak-47's in the closet. guns arent' the root of evil, stupid people are. a huge percentage of violence and crime involve guns. unfortunately there is no happy medium between your civil rights and going overboard.A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
- Third Amendment – Protection from quartering of troops.
I disagree with this. if for any reason you are suspected for any crimes, the government should be able to search your property, house, and person. for the safety and best welfare of the common person, this should be revised. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
- Fourth Amendment – Protection from unreasonable search and seizure.
how much money does this cost us? so many appeals it takes 20 years to put someone to the electric chair. No person shall be held to answer for any capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

This was in regards to quartering active duty soilders on US soil. Which coincidently is happening now. There is a brigade that is going to be under NORCOM here pretty soon. They are training in "disaster and civil unrest response"......yep, this is relevant. how about we quarter our own troops. how about we take care of our own men. this is fucking horseshit. look at the vietnam vets. ostracised by their own people upon returning from war.

i'll lump the rest together.
how much money does this cost us? so many appeals it takes 20 years to put someone to the electric chair.
ugh, i can't even talk about this anymore. don't EVER test my patriotism. I think there are too many people who take these for "rights" this should be the bill of "priveleges". Privelege for living in the U.S. Those that many, many people died for, fought for. Unfortunately, the ones who take advantage of the rights are those who have contributed nothing to preserve them.
the odds are in our favor. i'm sure for every 100 that string out it claiming innocent, 1 might be. i'll take my chances putting them all to the chair after 2 trials, not 5.So it is a matter of money to keep an innocent man out of the chair? Look at how many innocent people have gone free because of DNA exonerating them 20 years after their conviction. Yes the process needs to be streamlined, but our judicial system is such a sham right now I have a hard time beiliving that every single person that gets convicted is truly guilty.
Speaking out against the government does not automaticly quailfy you as a hippy douche. A hippy douche is all organic btw. Yes people do go over board and rag on America just to run their mouth. But I will be critical when I feel we are going in the wrong direction and also voice my support when I think we are on the right track.
So on a whim the police should be allowed to enter your home for any reason what so ever? Pull you over for shits and giggles? Or maybe something as thin as your car having the same color of paint as someone else?

i'll sacrifice my personal rights for security and safety. i might bitch about the lines at the airport, but i feel safer flying.
This mindset will lead you down a very steep slippery slope. The government does not always know what is "good for us". Not allowing someone to take finger nail clippers on a plane is not a drastic saftey measure. Then we have the woman who was forced by TSA agents to remover her nipple rings before she would be allowed to board. Stoping terrorists two tits a time!
I am not prepared to give law enforcement the green light to do whatever is needed to "keep us safe". I prefer them to actually do their jobs. I doubt very seriously that you would be okay with living in a police state. And the road to a police state starts with people saying "i'll sacrifice my personal rights for security and safety"....
well, if we lived in a world with no gray areas, i'll take the more secure, government controlled world. i fear the anarchy and chaos that humans can inflict upon themselves if given free roam to do whatever.
