Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Ok...over the past couple of days I have been having my oil light come on in the cluster. I check thed oil, the punp, the headgasket, everything...today i turned on the car and unplugged the oil pressure sending unit...and no oil light came on...is that a bad unit??

the light isn't going to come on if it's unplugged
